Orkin and its sister pest control companies are committed to protecting public health in our own backyards and around the world. Fight the Bite helps American homeowners reclaim their yards and saves lives in Africa by waging war on mosquitoes and the deadly diseases they can carry.
Orkin offers a unique mosquito service to help reduce mosquito populations so you can reclaim your yard. Orkin’s trained technicians will inspect your yard for breeding sites, including standing water, and treat shrubbery and other shady areas where mosquitoes tend to land and rest.
Through Fight the Bite 2009, Orkin and its sister pest control companies will raise and donate a minimum of $150,000 to the United Nations Foundation's Nothing But Nets campaign - a global, grassroots effort dedicated to saving lives by preventing malaria in Africa. One hundred percent of this donation will fund the purchase and distribution of more than 15,000 long-lasting, insecticide-treated mosquito bed nets in African communities, as well as education about the nets’ proper use. Last year – with the help of consumers like you – Orkin raised more than $135,000 for Nothing But Nets. Help Orkin Fight the Bite and save a life in 2009!
When you sign up for mosquito service anytime in 2009, Orkin will give $10 for one mosquito net through Nothing But Nets. This contribution can literally save a life, as studies show that use of insecticide-treated bed nets can reduce malaria transmission as much as 90%.*
In addition to reclaiming your own yard from mosquitoes, you also can donate funds directly to Nothing But Nets to send a net and save a life for as little as $10.
